Backend Guides

The backend is the part of a website or application that runs on the server, out of the user's sight: it stores and processes data, applies business rules and manages logins and permissions. It talks to the interface through APIs; saving a form, placing an order or seeing content entered in an admin panel appear on the site all depend on the backend.

This page collects the backend development guides we have written. The main topics are scoping admin panel projects, database performance and technology trends on the server side. The articles explain in plain language how the technical decisions made behind the scenes affect a business.
