What Is BİLMÖK?

BİLMÖK — short for Bilgisayar Mühendisleri Öğrenci Kongresi (Computer Engineering Students' Congress) — is one of Turkey's longest-running and most comprehensive student technology events. Held at a different university every year, it brings together students, industry professionals, and technology companies across software development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and more.

BİLMÖK is more than a conference. Through technical talks, workshops, booth areas, and panels, it gives students something they rarely get in the classroom: direct exposure to the real industry. The rotating host university model also keeps the event accessible to students across all of Turkey.

Why Does SUNS Tech Go to BİLMÖK?

At SUNS Tech, we don't see technology as just a product or a service. For us, technology is a language — and being around people who speak it, develop it, and question it has always been a priority.

BİLMÖK is a perfect match for that mindset: a space to meet ambitious young developers just starting out, through direct and honest conversation rather than advertising or polished corporate decks. It also teaches us things — the topics students are curious about often illuminate things we can't easily see from the inside.

What We Shared at the Booth

Domestic Projects

We talked about projects delivered for clients in Turkey — enterprise software, data infrastructure, mobile applications, and custom integrations. Students were most curious about project management processes, client-developer communication, and how code quality is maintained over time.

Our consistent answer: technical problems get solved. The harder challenges are communication and expectation management — with the client, within the team, against the clock.

International Projects

We also walked students through our collaborations with clients abroad. Async communication, remote work culture, and English-language technical documentation were all hot topics. Many students asked how to work on an international project without leaving Turkey — and we gave them an honest, unvarnished picture.

Questions Students Asked

"Portfolio or GPA for internship applications?" — Portfolio, clearly. A student with personal projects and an active GitHub always stands out.

"Which technologies should we learn?" — Technologies change; fundamentals don't. Data structures, algorithms, system design, and learning how to learn are the durable skills.

"Freelance or a company job?" — Early in a career, a structured team environment with mentorship produces faster growth.

"Does SUNS Tech take interns?" — We always leave that door open.

Why BİLMÖK Matters: More Than an Event

Turkey's software ecosystem is growing every year. Healthy growth requires strong bridges between students and industry — and that's exactly the role BİLMÖK plays.

For a student, BİLMÖK means seeing how classroom theory maps to real-world practice and talking one-on-one with developers working on real products. For a technology company, it means reaching future talent early and building genuine community presence.

Who Is SUNS Tech?
